The first giant panda cub born in Taiwan, “Yuan Zai,” has finally made its public debut today. Early this morning, over a thousand people gathered to catch a glimpse of the adorable cub. The Taipei City Zoo stated that during the initial opening phase, the method used in 2009 for viewing “Tuan Tuan” and “Yuan Yuan” will be followed—visitors must collect a “Giant Panda Pavilion Entry Ticket” upon entering the zoo and queue for admission based on the designated time slot. Moreover, the daily visitor cap for the pavilion is set at 19,200 people, and the pavilion will be closed on the first Monday of every month. National holidays will result in postponed closures. Visitors wishing to see Yuan Zai are reminded to check the opening hours before departure.

The giant panda cub “Yuan Zai” has been on display alongside its mother “Yuan Yuan” since today (6th). The zoo’s operating hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with ticket sales and zoo entry closing at 4:00 PM. The highly popular Giant Panda Pavilion is open from 9:10 AM to 5:10 PM. The pavilion is closed on the first Monday of each month, but if a national holiday falls on that day, the closure will be postponed. The scheduled closure dates for 2014 are January 30, February 17, March 3, April 7, May 5, June 9, July 7, August 4, September 1, October 6, November 3, and December 1.
Regarding the Giant Panda Pavilion’s capacity, 400 visitors are allowed in every 10 minutes, with a maximum of 19,200 visitors per day. To visit, visitors must collect a “Giant Panda Pavilion Entry Ticket” for the day upon entry and enter the pavilion according to the time slot indicated on the ticket. Those arriving after their assigned time must queue in the “Late Arrival Waiting Area.” Management will assess the queue situation inside the pavilion and allow a suitable number of people to enter as makeup slots become available. Those holding a “Giant Panda Pavilion Entry Ticket” are advised to arrive at the pavilion 10 minutes early and wait as directed by signage. Before entering, please stow away food and keep noise levels low to ensure a comfortable experience for all visitors, and to allow “Tuan Tuan,” “Yuan Yuan,” and “Yuan Zai” to live happily.

For group visitors who wish to make reservations, reservations are currently being accepted for visits from January 6 to January 29, with further arrangements to be announced later. School excursion groups and groups of 30 or more people must fill out the “Taipei City Zoo Giant Panda Pavilion Group Reservation Form” via email or fax at least three days before the intended visit date to apply for a group entry reservation. On weekdays, reservation time slots are available from 9:10–10:00 AM (300 people per slot) and 10:00–11:30 AM (200 people per slot); no group reservations are accepted for other time slots. On holidays, group reservations are accepted from 9:10–11:30 AM (100 people per slot); no group reservations are accepted for other time slots.
