Taipei City — Neihu Dagou Creek Ecological Park
The lush green lawns of the Dagou Creek Ecological Water Management Park are dotted with small, adorable white pom-pom flowers, forming a vast sea of white that resembles snow covering the earth. Paired with the surrounding mountain and water scenery, it creates a beautiful landscape painting. These tiny white pom-poms are the little sprites beautifying the land this season—white clover.

Taipei City — Jiuzhuangli Firefly Eco-Themed Exhibition and Community Carnival Series
A large number of fireflies have appeared in Jiuzhuangli, Nangang District, Taipei City, glowing brilliantly in the darkness and tracing amazing paths through the night. Zhang Ruifang, the head of Jiuzhuangli, Nangang District, said that fireflies are not only a focal point of nighttime attention but also greatly benefit the ecosystem as they feed on aquatic snails and slugs. Additionally, because fireflies have high environmental requirements for survival, they serve as excellent indicators of ecological health. To welcome the warm and grateful month of May, Jiuzhuangli will host a series of firefly eco-themed exhibitions and community carnivals, including a carnival and guided tour of the firefly-themed exhibition at Jiuzhuang Elementary School on May 3.

New Taipei City — Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival
The "2014 Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival" will take place from May 3 to June 30 on Fulong Beach. This year, 30 sand sculptors from 17 countries—including the United States, Canada, France, Ireland, Australia, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Russia, the Czech Republic, India, West Africa, Portugal, Bulgaria, Latvia, Singapore, and Taiwan—have been invited to participate in the international invitational competition, currently creating their works on Fulong Beach. New Taipei City — 2014 New Taipei City Firefly Feast
New Taipei City Department of Agriculture Director Liao Rong-ching stated that April to May is the perfect season for romantic fireflies dancing through the mountains. In areas with well-preserved environments and minimal light pollution, fireflies can easily be spotted. Therefore, the department’s “2014 New Taipei City Firefly Feast” event recommends 42 firefly-watching secret spots in Sanxia, Tucheng, Xindian, Wulai, Shiding, Pinglin, Shuangxi, Ruifang, Xizhi, Pingxi, Shimen, and Wanli. Firefly enthusiasts visiting between April and May can plan a trip to seek out these glowing creatures.
