1. By Train (Rail Fan’s Journey): Visit historic sites and the cat village in Houtong → Enjoy fireflies and release sky lanterns in Pingxi Old Street. (Take a TRA local train from Taipei Railway Station to Yilan, get off at Houtong Station → transfer to the Pingxi Branch Line to Pingxi Station)
2. By Bus (Senior Citizens’ Hiking Trip): Explore historic sites and eat stinky tofu in Shenkeng → Enjoy fireflies and release sky lanterns in Pingxi Old Street. (Take a bus from Muzha MRT Station to Shenkeng Station → take Bus No. 795)
3. By Car (Date Trip): Enjoy fireflies at Xindian Quchi Elementary School → Eat wild vegetables and soak in hot springs in Wulai. (Turn right at the Quchi intersection on Section 2 of Xinwu Road, drive down to No. 55 Quchi Road → continue along Xinwu Road up to Wulai Mountain)

The Agriculture Bureau reminds firefly-watchers to pay attention to the following key points:"Do not catch fireflies," "do not enter their habitats," "do not use lights to disturb them," "do not make loud noises," as well as "wear long-sleeved clothing," and "apply mosquito repellent."If you need to illuminate the path, cover your flashlight with dark-colored cellophane in advance to reduce light pollution and avoid disturbing the fireflies. For firefly-watching attire, it is recommended to wear lightweight, comfortable, natural-colored long-sleeved clothes and pants to avoid mosquito bites. Photography enthusiasts must never use flash when taking photos.
