The Penghu Maritime Fireworks Festival, held since 2003, has now entered its 12th year. The event kicks off on 4/14 to attract large numbers of tourists and runs until 6/19, making it a great time to plan a trip to Magong, Penghu.

The main venue for the fireworks festival is the Xiying Rainbow Bridge Seawall in Guanyin Pavilion Park, Magong City. The event runs from 7:30 PM to 9:20 PM, with fireworks launched between 9:00 PM and 9:20 PM. Both the activities and fireworks displays are subject to weather conditions and may be canceled due to adverse weather. Fireworks dates are as follows: 4/14 (Monday), 4/17 (Thursday), 4/21 (Monday), 4/24 (Thursday), 4/28 (Monday), 5/1 (Thursday), 5/5 (Monday), 5/8 (Thursday), 5/12 (Monday), 5/15 (Thursday), 5/19 (Monday), 5/22 (Thursday), 5/26 (Monday), 5/29 (Thursday), 6/2 (Monday), 6/5 (Thursday), 6/9 (Monday), 6/12 (Thursday), 6/16 (Monday), 6/19 (Thursday). Additionally, special performances are scheduled on 5/10 (Saturday) and 5/24 (Saturday), totaling 22 shows. The special shows run from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with fireworks from 9:00 PM to 9:15 PM.

When visiting Penghu, besides taking a boat to leave the main island of Magong, you can generally plan four popular routes based on geographical location: the Magong City Tour, the Husi Tour, the South Loop Tour, and the North Loop Tour. Each of these four major routes offers distinct scenic beauty and cultural charm, along with unique ways to explore. For travelers who wish to avoid crowds and enjoy a tranquil experience, the “Husi” route is ideal — it’s close to Magong City and offers some of the best pastoral landscapes in Penghu, where you can listen to the waves and watch the tides. In summer, pairing a daytime trip to Husi with an evening of fireworks creates a relaxing and romantic itinerary.

In the past, local poets in Penghu described the island’s Eight Scenic Spots: Kuibi Lianhui (Twin Walls in Radiance), Tiantai Yuantiao (Distant View from Heavenly Terrace), Xianglu Qiwu (Mist Rising from Incense Burner), Xiyu Luoxia (Sunset over West Isle), Longmen Gulong (Drums of Waves at Dragon Gate), Hujing Chengyuan (Clear Depths of Tiger Well), Anshan Yuhuo (Fishing Fires at Anshan), and Taibu Qiaoge (Woodcutters’ Songs on Mount Taibu). Among these, the Husi Township encompasses four of the scenes: Kuibi Lianhui, Xianglu Qiwu, Longmen Gulong, and Taibu Qiaoge. The poetic significance placed on Husi’s scenery by ancient writers speaks volumes about its timeless beauty.
