Taiwan High Speed Rail’s three new stations—Miaoli, Changhua, and Yunlin—are scheduled to open on December 1. In addition to a comprehensive schedule adjustment, the high-speed rail operator has also announced fares from Taipei to Miaoli, Changhua, and Yunlin, which are NT$430, NT$820, and NT$930 respectively. Additionally, starting in December, fares will be reduced back to pre-increase levels. For example, the standard class reserved seat fare for Taipei–Zuoying will be lowered from the current NT$1,630 to NT$1,490. Passengers can pre-purchase tickets for all services on the new schedule from December 1 onward starting at midnight on November 4.

The high-speed rail company stated that starting December 1, the number of stations will increase from 8 to 11, and the total number of weekly services will rise from the current 954 to 964. Based on travel demand during peak and off-peak hours, mornings, nights, and commuting periods, three types of service patterns have been planned, including:“Non-stop trains”(Taipei–Kaohsiung travel time remains 96 minutes, with 2 services per hour during peak times and 1 per hour during off-peak times),“Jump trains”(including a model that stops at the existing 8 stations, with 2 services per hour during peak times and 1 per hour during off-peak times), as well as“All-stop trains”(with at least 1 service per hour), meeting the needs of short-, medium-, and long-distance travelers.
Additionally, after the three new stations in Miaoli, Changhua, and Yunlin join full operations,there will be 1 northbound and 1 southbound service per hour(taking Taipei Station as an example, average travel times to the new stations are approximately: Miaoli Station about 49 minutes, Changhua Station about 80 minutes, Yunlin Station about 92 minutes). During certain periods, there will be 2 services per hour (with average travel times to Taipei Station being approximately: Miaoli Station about 46 minutes, Changhua Station about 60 minutes, Yunlin Station about 72 minutes), not only improving transportation convenience but also saving time.

The high-speed rail company stated that since the operation of the three new stations will increase travel time for passengers traveling between Chiayi, Tainan, and Taipei,additional jump trains will be added during certain periods after the schedule change, stopping only at Taipei (Banqiao)–Taichung–Chiayi–Tainan–Zuoying. The average travel time from Taipei Station to Chiayi Station will be about 76 minutes, and to Tainan Station about 94 minutes, both shorter than current travel times.
Furthermore, the new schedule specifically caters to the needs of southern passengers heading early to Taoyuan Airport or traveling north for meetings or business. The first “all-stop train” departing from Zuoying Station northbound daily will start at 6:18 a.m. Additionally, passengers traveling northbound from Zuoying, Tainan, and Chiayi Stations can choose to take the “jump train” departing from Zuoying Station at 6:24 a.m., arriving at Taoyuan up to 22 minutes earlier and at Taipei 6 minutes earlier than before.
※ Starting at midnight on November 4 (Wednesday), passengers can purchase tickets for all services on the new schedule from December 1 onward through convenience stores, online booking, the “T Express” mobile ticketing app, voice reservation systems, or at ticket counters and automatic ticket machines during operating hours at each station.
※ Additionally, to welcome the opening of the three new stations, the high-speed rail company has specially arranged for the non-paid areas of the three stations to be open to the public from November 4 to November 29, daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (including holidays). Visitors are invited to come and tour the areas. Access to the paid gate areas and platforms is also available, with the requirement of group entry and exit by appointment. Designated staff at the three stations will provide guided tours. Within the aforementioned opening hours, four time slots are available each day: 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Appointment requests can be submitted to the high-speed rail customer service center starting now.
