Packing luggage for overseas travel is a headache for many, not only because of how to make the most of suitcase space, but also because many delicate and beautiful souvenirs are fragile. Here are five packing tips that will keep your items safe from breaking, so you won’t be heartbroken when you open your suitcase upon returning home.

1.Principle: No rolling or shifting inside the suitcase
 
The space inside your suitcase must always be arranged in a way that prevents items from rolling or shifting. However, don't pack it too tightly. Keeping items from moving reduces the chance of collisions and helps maintain stability inside the suitcase. At the same time, avoid overpacking to prevent damage caused by external pressure—if there’s no buffer space inside, items and the suitcase itself could get damaged due to mutual compression.

2.There must be cushioning between items
 
When packing, ensure there is cushioning between fragile items. Wrap, encase, or separate items using clothes to prevent them from colliding, breaking, or getting damaged.

3.Use existing items in the suitcase for protection
 
After following the two principles above, you can make use of clothes already in the suitcase to protect your items. Scarves, jackets, underwear, socks, and undergarments all make excellent cushioning materials without taking up extra space. Remember to take out any clothes you’ll need soon before packing, to avoid having to repack everything later.

Many souvenirs and bottles come with their own boxes when purchased—don’t throw them away. These boxes not only offer some protection, but also have regular shapes that are easier to pack. When packing, if there is any extra space or gaps inside the boxes, make sure to fill or secure them properly.
