The Yilan International Children's Folklore and Folkgame Festival kicks off on July 2. To avoid heavy traffic caused by a surge in vehicles leading to congestion on National Freeway No. 5, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and Yilan County Government have launched a public transportation discount scheme. As long as you present a receipt for public transport such as intercity buses or Taiwan Railways, you can enjoy a “buy one get one free” ticket offer for the festival — two people go, one person goes free. In addition, special shuttle buses for the Toy Festival will be provided, along with increased services of NT$100 TRA express trains.

To encourage the public to use public transport to visit the festival, during the event period you can depart from multiple locations including Yuanshan, Dapinglin, Technology Building, Nangang, and Nangang Exhibition Center MRT stations, as well as Banqiao Transfer Station, Taipei Transfer Station, and City Hall Transfer Station, and take direct buses to the festival venue. A total of 49 round trips are available every weekend.

Taiwan Railways will add extra Sunday and holiday trains between Shulin and Luodong for just NT$100. Also, those holding intercity bus or Taiwan Railways tickets can enjoy a “two people go, one person goes free” ticket offer for the Yilan Toy Festival. During holidays, you can also transfer for free to Yilan’s Red Trunk Line buses and Green Attraction Shuttle Buses, linking up major sights across Yilan.
