The “Aowanda National Forest Recreation Area,” which officially opened in 1994, is turning 22 this year. To celebrate Aowanda’s birthday and encourage people to experience its beautiful scenery throughout the four seasons, the Nantou Forest District Office under the Forestry Bureau is offering special admission prices on the day of the celebration (July 1), where all visitors will be charged just NT$10. On July 2 and 3, the area will offer half-price admission for all.

Located in the mid-altitude mountainous region, the Aowanda National Forest Recreation Area offers different experiences in every season—cherry blossoms in spring, waterfalls in summer, moonlight in autumn, and maple leaves in winter, each with its own charm. Currently, Aowanda is especially lively, bustling with fluttering butterflies, chirping insects, eagles soaring and singing, mountain birds playing, and groups of frogs croaking, along with the large white trumpet-shaped Taiwan lilies blooming vibrantly everywhere, swaying gracefully in the wind, creating a unique summer vibe. Especially popular is the “Waterfall Trail Area,” launched in February 2016, where visitors can enjoy the spectacular views of the waterfalls and twin falls, while also soaking in the abundant negative ions from the cascades and the high concentration of forest phytoncides, which are beneficial to health and wellness. The area has received high praise, leaving visitors lingering and reluctant to leave.

July 1 is Aowanda’s birthday, which also coincides with the start of the summer vacation for students. The Nantou Forest District Office has specially introduced entry discounts to encourage travelers to visit Aowanda, experience the beauty of Taiwan’s forests, and enjoy a unique summer forest holiday.
