Typhoon Meranti (No. 14, international name MERANTI) became a medium typhoon on the afternoon of the 11th, and then intensified again into a strong typhoon on the afternoon of the 12th. The time for issuing the maritime warning, originally scheduled from the 12th to the early hours of the 13th, may now be moved up to 23:30 on the evening of the 12th.

The center of Meranti is located at 18.3°N, 129.3°E, moving west-northwest at 22 km/h. The typhoon's central pressure is 925 hPa, with maximum sustained winds of 51 m/s near the center and maximum gusts of 63 m/s. The radius of the 7-level wind zone is 200 km, and the 10-level wind zone is 80 km.
The typhoon’s path is leaning toward southern Taiwan, but the affected area may extend across the entire island. Travelers and residents should pay close attention to the typhoon’s developments.
