The Taoyuan Airport MRT officially began operations on February 2 and will undergo a one-month trial run during which the public can ride for free. The trial run is divided into two phases: group rides for the first two weeks and open public rides for the following two weeks. It will officially open on March 2, with a 50% discount on fares for the first month. Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan and Council Speaker Chiu Yi-sheng rode the first train from A21 Zhongli Huanbei Station to Taipei Station, symbolizing that the Taipei–Keelung–Taoyuan area is entering a new era of transportation.

During the group trial period, participating groups are only allowed to enter and exit at A1 Taipei Station, A3 New Taipei Industrial Park Station, A8 Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Station, A10 Shanbi Station, A18 Taoyuan High-Speed Rail Station, and A21 Huanbei Station. Public free rides will be available starting February 16, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM daily. No reservation is required—just visit any of the 21 MRT stations to draw a number and receive a ride token. With the token, you can freely enter and exit all stations for a free ride. Tokens are distributed at each station at four specific times daily: 7:40, 9:40, 11:40, and 13:40.
