A spectacular new landmark on Mt. Taipingshan – the Duowang Suspension Bridge offers sweeping views of the shoreline

Located in Yilan, the Mt. Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area boasts Taiwan’s rich natural ecology, with breathtaking mountain scenery and majestic valleys that leave visitors in awe. Mt. Taipingshan has recently unveiled a new landmark – the Duowang Suspension Bridge. Originally an iron bridge in the hot spring area at an elevation of 520 meters within the park, it spans the fast-flowing Duowang River. Due to the river’s sharp meanders and constriction, the banks were often eroded during typhoons and heavy rains, posing disaster risks. As a result, comprehensive mountain conservation and flood prevention measures were implemented, including relocating and renovating the iron bridge. The project was completed and named at the end of December 2016 (the 105th year of the Republic of China), and it also received the Excellence Award for Agricultural Construction that year. The Luyou Forest Management Office has scheduled the inauguration ceremony for the Duowang Bridge on January 24, 2017 (the 106th year of the Republic of China).

The newly completed Duowang Suspension Bridge serves as a key route connecting the hot spring area and the nature trail area.
