The yen has been continuously depreciating. Aside from a slight rebound just before the cherry blossom festival, the recent end of the French election and the unresolved issue of North Korea’s missile tests have caused the safe-haven currency, the yen, to start falling again. Although the decline isn’t huge, it has dropped below 0.275, and in recent days it has continued to fall. Take May 4th as an example, when it hit a new low: the bank buying rate was 0.2618, and the selling rate was 0.269 (Yongfeng Bank), officially marking the 0.26 threshold.
