Japan’s new tax-free regulations take effect on July 1, relaxing exemption conditions for foreigners. The JCB international organization has launched a promotion during the summer vacation period where JCB cardholders can enjoy up to '8% tax exemption + 5% shopping discount + 3% card rewards' when making purchases at designated JCB-participating physical stores in Japan. These include over 100 Japanese chain electronics brands, drugstore and cosmetics brands, and well-known department stores. In addition, the JCB international organization offers many more great deals and services in Japan, including transportation, sightseeing, dining, and more. Customers who reach a minimum spending amount can also visit designated lottery locations to win vouchers worth up to 20,000 Japanese yen.

The 2018 "JCB Summer Fun Festival" introduces a creative concept by building Taiwan’s first-ever 5.5-meter-tall 'Giant Doraemon Container Gashapon Machine,' loaded with 3,600 exciting gashapon capsules. This pop-up attraction will light up both Taipei and Kaohsiung, sparking a wave of summer fun.It will appear at the front plaza of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi in Taipei Station from Friday, August 3 to Sunday, August 5, 2018, and then move to the plaza in front of Kaohsiung Hanshin Dome from Friday, August 10 to Sunday, August 12, 2018.
During the event period, present one JCB card receipt showing a single purchase of NT$388 (inclusive) or more made after July 1, 2018, to exchange for one chance to play the 'Doraemon Gashapon Spin the Fun of Summer' at the event booth. Each person is limited to two exchanges per day. The JCB international organization has also specially selected a variety of colorful Doraemon-themed gifts.
