Kong-rey’s path may affect the weather in Okinawa, and after turning north, it will first reach Shanghai in China before shifting toward Japan and South Korea. Those planning to visit these areas in the near future should pay special attention to weather changes and flight disruptions.
Due to the influence of the outer circulation of the typhoon, northern Miaoli and Yilan will see cloudy and rainy weather starting Wednesday evening and Thursday, especially with heavy rain expected on Thursday. As Kong-rey is categorized as a super typhoon—the peak intensity of strong typhoons—it is forecast to be closest to Taiwan on Friday. Whether a sea warning will be issued is particularly noteworthy. It remains to be seen whether it will follow the path of Typhoon Trami and again impact Japan. Path changes will become clearer on Wednesday and Thursday.
