In recent years, various types of skywalks have emerged, allowing people to admire nature's breathtaking beauty up close and from unique perspectives. The increasingly impressive large-scale artificial structures also place greater emphasis on design, among which the most eye-catching is Denmark’s spiral-shaped circular skywalk, launched in 2018.
Jointly designed by local Danish travel organization Camp Adventure and architecture studio EFFEKT, the walkway is conceptualized as a “Treetop Experience.” Located within the forest park of the town of Haslev, about an hour’s drive from Copenhagen, the circular design allows visitors to spiral upwards along a gentle slope. As their elevation changes, so does their view—culminating at the 45-meter-high canopy platform where they can enjoy a 360-degree immersive forest experience.
The walkway features a wide-top and wide-bottom, narrow-middle design, resembling an hourglass, which enhances structural stability. It is constructed using weathering steel, which offers both anti-corrosion properties and structural support. The wooden surface material comes from the forest itself, further blending the structure with its surroundings. In addition to leisure and exploration, the walkway serves an educational purpose. Along its 600-meter length, visitors will encounter birdhouses, circular pathways, public rest areas, and intersecting viewing platforms that boost engagement. It is especially suitable for family outings, with accessibility features that accommodate wheelchairs and strollers.
