The first plaza will be transformed into a street-style "Huatai Chinatown." A large intersection, traffic lights, British-style telephone booths, and road signs — all classic Western urban elements — will become popular photo spots for today's youth. Huge red lanterns hanging among the street scenes, paired with the “Golden Dragon Seizes the ‘Pig’ Year Parade” from the first to the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, will bring an authentic overseas Chinatown New Year celebration right to the outlet.
British-style telephone booth
Among the installations, Taiwan’s only cosplay of the Statue of Liberty as a pink-haired beauty — who this time isn’t walking a Chihuahua but instead a super fitting, adorable golden pig — makes for a fun and fashionable street crossing. On the other side of the street, four of the trendiest golden pigs march in a row, exuding cool vibes as they strut down the road. Inspired by the iconic Beatles image crossing Abbey Road in the UK, this setup also pays homage to the legendary band. The fusion of Eastern and Western Chinatown scenery, plus playful “meme twists,” is sure to deliver a fresh and unique festive experience.

The second plaza uses Living Coral, Pantone’s color of the year, to create Taiwan’s first-ever “Spinning Piglet Playground,” showcasing the area’s youthful and vibrant spirit. In tune with the Year of the Pig 2019, this zone features colorful piglets for parents and children to “play” and “spin” with, inviting good fortune and ringing in the New Year with auspicious vibes.
