During the 2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition, the most easily accessible pavilion was the Flower Tea Hall in Hsinsheng Park. Its former identity was the widely familiar “Lin An-Tai Ancient House,” a traditional Minnan-style quadrangle courtyard building with a rigorous layout and elegant carvings. After being relocated to Binjiang Street, it now quietly sits here as the most intact ancient house in Taipei with over 200 years of history!
Stepping into the Flower Tea Hall complex and walking along the winding path, you’ll see buildings made of red bricks and tiles, as well as the Moon Eyebrow Pond whose shape matches its name—transporting you to the daily life scenes of the Qing Dynasty. The garden features bamboo grove paths and seasonal fragrant plants as landscape elements, allowing visitors to experience the varying scenery of the four seasons, blending poetry with the scenery. You can also take a short rest amid the ancient house and garden while savoring a cup of tea, immersing yourself in the refined and elegant charm of a traditional Chinese garden.
The static exhibits in the Flower Tea Hall preserve traditional cultural relics used in ancestral worship by the Minnan people, while also offering introductions to the origins and architectural design of the ancient house. In addition, traditional performances are held regularly, featuring literary events such as poetry recitals, Chinese painting and calligraphy, and tea ceremonies. Tea art experts are also invited to give on-site explanations of flower tea artistry, allowing visitors to indulge in a refined cultural experience.
