According to the regulations of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI): Competition bicycles include road racing bicycles (including cross-country racing bicycles), track racing bicycles, and motor-paced racing bicycles.
As competition bicycles:
First, they must be human-powered;
Second, they must not be equipped with any windproof (aerodynamic drag-reducing) devices, but may have gear shifters;
Third, the bicycle length must not exceed 2 meters, height must not exceed 75 centimeters, the bottom bracket to ground distance should be 24–30 centimeters, bottom bracket to front axle distance should be 58–75 centimeters, and the distance between the bottom bracket and rear axle must be no less than 55 centimeters. The vertical line from the front end of the saddle must not extend more than 12 centimeters behind the bottom bracket. The handlebar width must be no less than 75 centimeters. Wheel diameter, saddle, and frame style can be chosen at the rider’s discretion.
To ensure the safety of athletes, road racing bikes must be agile in performance with effective front and rear brakes, and the ends of the handlebar tubes must be plugged with rubber or cork. The bike must not have any sharp parts, and screws must not protrude. Track racing bicycles use fixed gears, with no brakes or gear shifters.
