It has been three months since the cable car launched at the end of last year, and in this brief period, the number of visitors taking the cable car from Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village and the Sun Moon Lake Cable Car Station has already surpassed 950,000, nearing the one million mark. Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village is offering a special commemorative gift to the one-millionth rider — an invitation for the millionth lucky passenger to ride the cable car for free for life!

As the cable car has transformed the way people view and experience Sun Moon Lake, it quickly became a sensation after its launch, turning into one of Taiwan’s most popular tourist attractions, drawing large crowds daily to try the ride. By the end of March, the total number of riders from Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village and the Sun Moon Lake Cable Car Station had reached 950,000. It is estimated that during the Qingming holiday period, cumulative ridership is expected to surpass one million.

To celebrate the Sun Moon Lake Cable Car reaching one million riders, Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village is offering special commemorative gifts to both the one-millionth and the 999,999th lucky riders. The one-millionth rider will receive a Golden Passport granting lifetime free entry to the park and free cable car rides, a limited-edition millionth rider Sun Moon Lake cable car model, and other perks, as well as a hotel voucher worth NT$14,300 for a two-day-one-night lakeside suite with breakfast and dinner at Sun Moon Lake Wenshin Hotel. Meanwhile, the 999,999th lucky passenger will also receive a one-year Golden Passport for free cable car rides, along with a hotel voucher worth NT$12,650 for a two-day-one-night mountain-view suite with breakfast and dinner at Wenshin Hotel.

To enhance seamless travel between Nantou and Sun Moon Lake, starting March 29, Nantou Bus has added eight express shuttle services on the “Taichung–Sun Moon Lake” route, with frequent departures for passengers to take advantage of.
