Visit Taiwan’s only jujube-producing region this Mother’s Day and enjoy a healthy, fun day out with mom

Beyond lavish Mother’s Day feasts, there’s a new option this year. The “Big Hands, Little Hands Jujube Fun” event, jointly organized by the Council of Agriculture and the Gongguan Township Farmers’ Association in Miaoli County, will take place on May 12–13, with a total of four sessions. Both adults and children can explore the insect world together, listen to the story of the oldest mother jujube tree, taste fragrant steamed jujube buns, and even make smooth, tender jujube jelly. Registration is now open.

Gongguan Township in Miaoli County is Taiwan’s one and only jujube-producing region. Jujubes are rich in protein, vitamins, and carbohydrates, all of which have excellent antioxidant properties. This Mother’s Day, bring your whole family to Gongguan Township to admire the jujube blossoms, listen to the story of the oldest mother jujube tree, take part in a DIY jujube jelly workshop, and dine at the theme restaurant “Haokefang,” renovated from an old farmers’ association warehouse, where you can enjoy steamed chicken with jujubes and other nutritious dishes.

Additionally, the event’s fun parent-child guided tours will lead both adults and children to discover rhinoceros beetles and stag beetles, watch these insect world powerhouses and big diggers show off their energy, and enjoy performances such as adorable fireflies carrying lanterns and silkworms spinning silk into clothes—giving kids an up-close look at the vitality of insect life.
