Kaohsiung Dashu District Sightseeing Bus with Personal Guide — Local Specialties All for Free

Kaohsiung’s tourism industry is developing rapidly, with many spots in the city becoming filming locations for domestic movies. Although Dashu District in Kaohsiung is not as well-known to tourists as districts like Qijin or Gushan, when it comes to the scenic spots within the district such as the Gaoping River Old Iron Bridge Wetland Park and the beauty of the sunset at the cable-stayed bridge, it’s sure to get railway enthusiasts and fans of golden hour photography excited. With the upcoming Phoenix and Lychee Cultural Tourism Festival at the end of May, the Dashu District holiday sightseeing bus will begin service on May 19th, operating on weekends and public holidays. It offers free rides to help the public gain an in-depth understanding of local culture and historical sites, featuring personal guided tours and complimentary tastings of local agricultural specialties, fully presenting Dashu District’s ecological beauty and cultural charm.

The Dashu District Holiday Sightseeing and Guided Bus offers free rides from May 19th to August 19th, featuring two formats: “Personal On-site Guided Tours” and “Onboard Commentary Tours.” The Personal On-site Guided Tour operates by reservation and combines cultural industries, historic sites, and tourist attractions. Not only are there local cultural and historical associations serving as guides to explain the area’s history and culture, but visitors also get to taste local agricultural specialty foods. After boarding at either Dadong Station (Dadong Arts and Culture Center) on the MRT or Jiouciutang Station on the TRA, passengers can enjoy sights along the way such as the Cao Gong Old Canal Five-Arch Water Gate, the Old Iron Bridge Wetland Park, Sanhe Tile Kiln, Zhuliao Mountain Sightseeing Winery, and the Fo Guang Shan Buddha Memorial Center, and will even get a glimpse of Asia’s longest and the world’s second-longest single-tower cable-stayed bridge.

The “Personal On-site Guided Tour” of the Holiday Sightseeing Bus is scheduled for two departures daily on weekends and public holidays, at 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM, departing from Kaohsiung MRT Dadong Station. The “Onboard Commentary Tour” runs from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekends and public holidays, with a bus every 20 minutes.
