Dashu District in Kaohsiung City was once the world’s top producer of canned pineapples, earning the title “Pineapple Kingdom.” The area is also famed nationwide for its refreshingly sweet pineapples and its “Fruit King” Yuhuabao lychees, known for their exceptional taste. Every year from May to June, juicy and sweet pineapples and lychees enter peak production season. The Dashu District Office will hold the “2012 Kaohsiung Pineapple & Lychee Culture & Tourism Festival” starting June 2, with a NT$1 pineapple grab event on the opening day to let visitors enjoy delicious fruit while saving money.
