The 2012 Fulong Sand Sculpture Festival drew 100,000 visitors within just two weeks of its opening. Among them, Jeremy Lin and Yani Tseng, who have shone in the NBA and international golf tournaments respectively and were recently named among Time magazine’s 100 most influential people, were highlight exhibits that visitors made a point to see. The Northeast Coast & Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Administration under the Tourism Bureau further collaborated with outdoor sports brands to jointly host a Sports Rock Party this weekend (May 26-27), offering free entry to those with 2012 Fulong Sand Sculpture Festival tickets. Indie bands such as ACE and Hidden Figure will perform on stage, adding even more rock energy to the sand sculpture event.

The Columbia “Icy Cool Summer” Sports Rock Party allows entry with just a 2012 Fulong Sand Sculpture Festival ticket. Visitors can not only admire international and domestic sand sculptures but also participate in ice-cooling booth activities and even get the chance to receive professional guidance and try out kayaking. Additionally, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on both May 26 and 27, indie bands such as ACE, CITY CAT, Traffic Light, Crazy Lazarus, and Hidden Figure will perform, with the southern Mayday—Fire EX.—closing the show as the headliner.
The “2012 Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival” runs until June 24 at Fulong Beach. Participants include sand sculpture masters from the United States, Canada, Japan, the Netherlands, Latvia, Singapore, Taiwan, and mainland China. The event features three super-large sand sculptures, 18 medium-sized ones, and 23 small ones, using a total of 5,000 tons of fine sand, setting new records in both quantity and scale.
