Cold front alert: Snowfall on Mount Taiping and Hehuanshan is simply magical

A cold snap has hit, with snowfall reported in areas including Mount Taiping and Hehuanshan due to wet, cold, and low temperatures. The 2,000-meter-high Mount Taiping National Forest Recreation Area began snowing at 6:30 PM on February 8, continuing intermittently until February 9. Temperatures at Mount Taiping Lodge dropped to -1 to -2°C, with accumulated snow reaching up to 5–10 cm.

With white snow covering the lush green forests of Mount Taiping, visitors were lucky enough to witness the stunning snowy woodland scenery, giving the area an even stronger northern vibe. The Forestry Bureau’s Luyou Forest District Office reminded the public that mountain temperatures are extremely low, so proper cold-weather gear is essential. Roads may be slippery, so vehicle snow chains are recommended. When heading up the mountain, wear lightweight shoes and bring rain gear and warm clothing. Due to mountain fog, drive carefully and stay safe. Additionally, Cui Peak Lake is a Type B restricted area. Furthermore, due to icy road conditions, Cui Peak Scenic Road and Cui Peak Lake are temporarily closed—only access to Mount Taiping Lodge is permitted.
