It’s once again the peak summer travel season, and the summer travel expo has recently kicked off, with many people flocking to the event to snag deals. But when it comes to traveling with kids—both little and big—during the hot summer months, what are the most recommended destinations? Travel industry experts say that major theme parks in nearby Asian countries are the top choice for children, while slightly farther destinations like Australia and Dubai win points for their novelty.

For kids, there’s nothing more exciting during summer vacation than visiting a magical “theme park”! For example, theLegoland Malaysia, which opened last September, is Asia’s first Legoland, featuring seven richly themed zones with educational and interactive rides that are perfect for family outings. Similarly located in Malaysia, theHello Kitty Town, which debuted last November, boasts popular cartoon characters such as Japan’s Hello Kitty, Little Dinosaur Banny, Thomas the Tank Engine, and more. Nearby, Singapore’s Universal Studios offers attractions like the “Madagascar zone,” where kids can have fun with the animals from the movie *Madagascar*.

Japan has long been a popular destination for family trips. Jane Chien, sales director at EasyTravel, notes that due to the weakened yen this year, Tokyo has seen a surge in interest. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year,Tokyo DisneylandandHello Kitty Parkare both hugely popular. For those heading to Kyushu, parks likeHuis Ten Boscheven offer the chance to ride the Thousand Sunny from *One Piece*, making for a truly unique experience for kids.

For mainland China travel, Jane Chien particularly recommends routes to the “Silk Road” or “Mongolia.” She explains that while inland destinations have traditionally been perceived as requiring longer trips, many travel agencies now offer shorter 4- or 5-day itineraries that are perfect for young travelers.

For longer trips, Cai Baihao from Phoenix Travel’s commercial department suggests Australia as a paradise for family travel. With its vast land surrounded by oceans and well-preserved natural ecosystems, Australia offers countless animals not found in Taiwan, including many “marsupials,” making it ideal for an ecological adventure during the summer. Additionally, Cai recommends “Dubai,” explaining that the city offers kids an “eye-opening” experience—from the “world’s tallest tower” and Ferrari World to staying at the iconic Burj Al Arab. Kids can see many of the “world’s greatest wonders,” which carries unique educational value.
