Bamboo Fort Princess Crowned: Dance Instructor Chung Chiao-Jou Wins the Title

After fierce competition, the winner of the Hsinchu City Bamboo Fort Princess pageant has been announced. Chung Chiao-Jou, a 23-year-old dance instructor from Miaoli, stood out among 12 contestants to claim the crown. In addition to winning the NT$120,000 first-place prize, she has also been appointed as the Tourism Ambassador for Hsinchu City. Over the next year, she will be dedicated to promoting and endorsing the food and scenic attractions of the "Windy City."

The Bamboo Fort Princess pageant is the highlight of the annual Hsinchu Meatball Festival. The champion, Chung Chiao-Jou, currently works as a dance instructor in Hsinchu. During the finals, she impressed the judges with her energetic and youthful aerobics performance. The runner-up was Chen Yi-Yun, a National Taiwan University of Arts student skilled in guzheng, while Sun Yu-Ting, a student from Hsinchu University of Education, took third place.

This year’s Bamboo Fort Princess competition was particularly intense, especially in the talent segment where contestants showcased diverse skills including ballroom dance, jazz, aerobics, singing, piano, and guzheng. Judges evaluated contestants on stage presence, eloquence, and their ability to promote Hsinchu. After three hours of fierce competition, the champion was finally decided. Chung Chiao-Jou stated that she will fulfill her role as the Bamboo Fort Princess by promoting Hsinchu and attracting more visitors to the Windy City.

In addition to the top three, two winners were also selected: Tsai Yu-Pei, a Soochow University student, and Chiao Man-Ting from Hwa Kang Arts School. Chiao Man-Ting also won the Online Popularity Award, while Tseng I-Ting, a graduate student at National Tsing Hua University, received the Most Photogenic Award.
