Located near Xinyi Anhe Station, tucked away in a lane on Wenchang Street, Xizi Savory Pie has been open for two years and is run single-handedly by owner Su Chia-ying. In addition to drinks, their savory pies are truly classic, with the best-selling Aged Potato Pie being the top recommendation. Aged Potato Pie
France certifies two types of butter: Aged Butter and Isigny Butter. The potatoes and crust of the Aged Potato Pie are made with these two ingredients, resulting in an exceptionally fragrant taste. Aged Butter is less tangy compared to other butters, and unlike many shops that mix potatoes with fresh cream—making the texture heavier—this shop highlights the aroma by seasoning only with salt, creating a refreshing and lighter taste.

The shop originally used mainly tart, sour large tomatoes, but recently added sweet cherry tomatoes due to their seasonal abundance. Topped with oregano and a layer of mozzarella cheese, the flavors pair beautifully with the tomatoes, offering a refreshing taste regardless of the weather.

Su Chia-ying laughs that this is the “pie she spent the most time researching.” Inspired by the method of beef bourguignon, “the vegetables in beef bourguignon are all very soft, so I added king oyster mushrooms, giving it a slightly sour and spicy taste.” Notably, the crust of this pie is different from the Aged Potato Pie, being even crispier.

Raspberries
Taiwanese people generally prefer fruit tarts with fresh fruit, but this pie goes against the trend by using the European fruit tart method—laying down a layer of raspberries, adding a layer of jam, and topping it with almond cream often used in French pastries. It tastes tangy, and after baking, the almond cream becomes soft and fluffy.
