Located near Xinyi Anhe Station, Congrats Café has only been open for six months, yet it regularly hosts various exhibitions, lectures, even live music performances and movie screenings. The menu is diverse, offering not just coffee but also desserts, savory pies, and even alcoholic drinks and cigars—a truly varied selection. Congrats Café originally began as a small three-wheeled mobile coffee cart. It’s quite an achievement to have grown to its current scale in just one year. Though it’s a bit off the beaten path, it offers a retreat from the hustle and bustle of Taipei, feeling like a whole other world. Owner Lin Yuchao hopes the space feels like a “home,” saying, “80% of our customers are regulars—I can even tell you their professions.” This shows the care and thought put into the café.

When asked about the name “Congrats Café,” Lin Yuchao laughed and shared the story: “I love Australia. My wife and I went there for our honeymoon, and during our stay, we met a B&B landlady who, upon learning we were newlyweds, happily hugged us and said, ‘So Congratulation!’ For a while, we kept using that word, and eventually, we decided to use it as our café’s name.”

The café’s most classic offering is single-origin coffee. In addition to the classic Panama Geisha Mamaca, they also have unique brews like the White Peacock Butterfly and Red Spot Peacock Butterfly, both based on the Geisha bean. Moreover, if categorized by flavor, there are options with fruity acidity, special fermentation notes, and classic rich profiles.

Reporters tried a hidden gem coffee, the “Hope Estate Sun-Dried Geisha,” which had an intense fruity aroma—featuring pineapple, lemon, chocolate, and floral notes—hardly resembling traditional coffee. The owner joked, “This coffee tastes very different when it’s hot versus when it’s cold.”

Committed to coffee quality, the café avoids syrupy lattes commonly found elsewhere, but still offers two standout classics: “Osmanthus Latte” and “Marigold Latte.” The former is made with osmanthus the owner grows themselves, while the latter has a distinctive scent with hints of passionfruit and a refreshing herbal note—truly unique.

For meat pies, the café collaborates with neighboring eatery “Xizi Savory Pie” to create a special “meat pie”—a flavor not found on Xizi’s menu. Lin Yuchao joked, “This was the taste I really missed from back home when I was in Australia. Most meat pies are made with beef, but I know many people in Taiwan don’t eat beef. After discussing with Xizi, we decided to make one using braised pork—the kind Taiwanese love. The result is amazing; it’s exactly the taste I longed for in Australia.”
