Taiwan Provincial Highway No. 9, the Su-Hua Highway, remains closed due to continuous falling rocks caused by rainfall. The Directorate General of Highways stated that based on UAV (drone) reconnaissance and analysis, the following short-, medium-, and long-term emergency repair and reconstruction strategies have been announced:

1. Short-term emergency reopening: For sections with frequent falling rocks, urgent measures using the container method will be applied. It is expected that...Starting tomorrow (the 31st) from 16:00 to 18:00, a temporary one-way, two-directional passage under guard can be opened first, and from June 1st onward, three time slots of one-way, two-directional traffic will be allowed daily—morning slot from 06:00 to 08:00, noon slot from 12:00 to 13:00, and afternoon slot from 16:00 to 18:00.

2. Medium- and long-term reconstruction: The construction area involves high slopes, making work difficult. It is planned to carry out reconstruction using the framed vegetation method. If weather permits, the project is expected to take about five months. After the short-term reopening, the Directorate General of Highways will immediately begin reconstruction work. During the construction period, three time slots of traffic control will still be maintained, and the schedule of these three time slots will be determined based on repair progress and weather conditions.
