Taichung’s “Dual-Venue” Countdown Concert: Show Lo Counts Down, F.I.R. Welcomes the New Year

As the whole of Taiwan goes countdown crazy, Taichung City has launched the nation’s only “dual-venue” New Year’s Eve concert this year, taking place simultaneously at the National Taiwan University of Sport Stadium in downtown Taichung and the Dajia Stadium in Dajia District. In addition to featuring bel canto singers such as Ding Dang, Lee Jia Wei, and Lin Yu Qun (aka “Little Fatty”), the event exclusively invites Show Lo to deliver the closing performance and count down to the new year with the crowds. Following the countdown, the F.I.R. band will treat audiences to a medley of their classic hits.

The “dual-venue” New Year’s Eve concerts will kick off simultaneously at 7:00 PM on December 31. The downtown venue will be hosted by A-Ken, Nado, Liu Xun’ai, and Huang Jiaqian, while the lineup of performers includes Ding Dang, Wen Hao, Lee Jia Wei, Annie Wang, Alien Huang, Chou Hui, Sun Yo Wei, A Xi, Ye Weiting, and Lin Yu Qun, among others. Show Lo and the F.I.R. band will serve as the closing acts.

For the Dajia venue, the hosts will be Liao Jia-yi and Ah Pang. Local performance groups will open the show, and after 9:00 PM, entertainers such as Chen Mei-feng, Luo Shifeng, Zhang Wenqi, Bai Jiaqi, Century Flower Band, Ye Huan, Bei Qi Band, Chen Yingjie, Chen Yufeng, Chen Nairong, and the cast of the Formosa TV drama “Feng Shui Family” will take the stage one after another to celebrate the new year with the crowds.

Taichung Mayor Hu Zhiqiang remarked, “Last year, a man shouted ‘I love you’ to my daughter Hu Tingting from the audience, and later she got married!” He added, “Come to Taichung for the countdown — something good is bound to happen!”

Traffic Control: Traffic control will be enforced around the National Taiwan University of Sport and Dajia Stadium on New Year’s Eve. The public is encouraged to use public transportation.
