Get married in the sky—hot air balloon weddings take off in Taitung starting May

What kind of wedding leaves the most lasting impression? The Taitung County Government will host a hot air balloon wedding event in May, inviting 30 couples to wear wedding attire, take a free hot air balloon flight, soar over the Taitung Valley, and land in Chishang Township, surrounded by vast green rice fields. The county government noted that the wedding package costs NT$6,000, with the requirement that at least one partner must be registered as a resident of Taitung County. Selected couples will also receive a sweet gift.

The 2014 Hot Air Balloon Joint Wedding will take place from May 16 to 18. The wedding activities include a free hot air balloon flight, a leisurely half-day tour of the countryside, an overnight stay at a resort hotel, a NT$7,000 discount on wedding dresses and styling, a heart-shaped cake from Taitung Good Gifts Home, and a commemorative event DVD.

The county government stated that applications for the hot air balloon wedding are now being accepted until March 18, with a limit of 30 couples. Couples interested in participating must first download the application materials from the Taitung County Government’s official website or register in person at the County Government’s Civil Affairs Bureau. After confirmation of acceptance, applicants will be notified separately regarding payment and other related matters.
