Domestic flight discounts to be less than 30% off starting June; refund policies to get stricter

After domestic airfares were raised earlier this year (2014), airlines have introduced around 30% off promotional fares to boost sales. The Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) stated that starting as early as early June, domestic flight discounts will be even more favorable than current offers, but refund policies will become stricter—tickets discounted below 30% are expected to be void if unused after the deadline, and new fees for post-departure refunds will be added.

The original refund fee for domestic flight tickets was a maximum of 25% of the ticket price for discounted fares. According to the new regulations, the refund fee before departure remains at 25% of the ticket price. For discounted fares above 30%, the refund fee after departure can be up to 50% of the ticket price. As for non-discounted domestic flight tickets, the refund period remains one year, with a refund fee of 10% of the ticket price.
