Still unsure where to go for your year-end trip? Macau is definitely the top choice for budget travelers, offering entertainment, shopping, food, history, culture, and numerous distinctive hotels. Just a three-day, two-night trip can give you a fulfilling vacation.

▲ Macau boasts diverse luxury entertainment options and a wide range of unique hotels, making it a great place to eat well, stay comfortably, and have fun.

▲ When in Macau, trying a Portuguese egg tart is an absolute must.
If you’re a food lover, Macau will surely satisfy your cravings. From Chinese and Western cuisines to Michelin-starred restaurants, street food, and Macanese cuisine, you’ll find flavors that suit your taste. Zhou Huahua, a generous blogger also known as Jiabao Mei, sincerely recommends the renowned "Yingdao Congee." This eatery is also a favorite among Hong Kong and Taiwanese celebrities, tucked away in the alleys near A-Ma Temple—you’ll need a reservation to dine here. Perfect for a group of friends, besides the signature winter melon congee, locals recommend trying the "Bo Bo Clams." Once it’s served, the plate full of clams shows just how good it is. The garlic broth absorbs the essence of the clams, and one sip will leave you incredibly satisfied.

When in Macau, you must try the unique local Macanese cuisine, which blends various spices and ingredients, combining Chinese and Portuguese cooking techniques to form Macau’s distinctive food culture. The locally recommended 《A Baía New Bay Portuguese Restaurant》, with its Portuguese owner, is committed to authentic Portuguese flavors. "Bacalhau" (salted cod) is a staple in Portuguese cuisine—translated from Portuguese, it refers to salted cod, which can be pan-fried, grilled, roasted, or boiled. Other highlights include Portuguese fried clams, Portuguese salad, and my personal favorite: seafood rice. This dish is packed with ingredients, including half a lobster in the pot. The broth is rich with the umami of the sea, delivering an unexpectedly delightful and satisfying flavor.

▲ Delicious seafood rice, with plenty of sauce and an overload of ingredients, including half a lobster—definitely a must-order.
For independent travelers, Macau is truly worth visiting. Strolling through the old town, every alley and lane is full of surprises, and classic Macanese food is often hidden along the way. Walk around Macau to admire its colorful Portuguese architecture and World Heritage historical sites. In Macau, you can eat well, stay well, and have fun—and a three-day, two-night trip starts at just 5888 MOP (before tax), even cheaper than domestic travel.
