The Dragon Boat Festival long weekend is coming this Saturday (June 31st). Although most of Taiwan has been under thunderstorms and showers in recent days, according to the Central Weather Bureau, the weather across the country will gradually improve starting from the Dragon Boat Festival holiday. Northern Taiwan:

New Taipei City:The “2014 Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival” kicked off and will run until June 30th at Fulong Beach. Featuring over 80 sand sculptures, shuttle buses will be available between “Yanliao Seaside Park – Fulong Visitor Center” during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday for visitors’ convenience. Travelers can also opt for the “Taiwan Tourist Shuttle – Golden Fulong Line” for a unique experience.

Taoyuan County:At “Little People’s Kingdom Theme Park,” visitors taking the Hsinchu Bus during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday can enjoy a discounted ticket price of NT$359 with their bus ticket stub. Non-public transport users can also avail of a discounted price of NT$399 (original price: NT$799).

Hsinchu County:“Leofoo Village Theme Park” offers a special entry price of NT$100 for seniors aged 50 and above, as well as a Taiwan Railways Union Bus combo ticket priced at NT$799, which includes round-trip bus fare from Taipei to Leofoo Village and one park admission ticket. Additionally, those holding a Hsinchu Bus ticket stub for the “Hsinchu–Leofoo Village” or “Zhongli–Leofoo Village” routes can enjoy an admission price of NT$599.

Central Taiwan

Taichung City:“Lihpao Land” offers a water and land combo ticket for NT$799, with the second person free. “Dongshi Forest Farm” offers discounted entry tickets for NT$160 from May 31st to June 2nd.

Nantou County:“Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village” offers female visitors a discounted price of NT$390 on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) in May, as well as on June 1st and 2nd, plus a free round-trip ride on the Sun Moon Lake Ropeway. In addition, there are several transit combo ticket promotions:
1. “Nantou Bus Combo Ticket” (including round-trip bus fare + admission) at a discounted price of NT$900.
2. “Renyou Bus Combo Ticket” (including round-trip bus fare + admission) at a discounted price of NT$840.
3. Single bus round-trip tickets are also discounted: Nantou Bus NT$340, Renyou Bus NT$260.

“Shanlinxi Forest Eco-Resort” offers free admission for the first 100 visitors each day during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday. Visitors holding sachets can also enjoy pedal boating for just NT$100. “Atayal Resort” offers a discounted admission price of NT$225 for those born in the Year of the Snake.

Southern Taiwan

Tainan City:“Chiansi Pi Jiangnan Resort” offers free admission for all children under 12 years old during the holiday period.

Kaohsiung City:At “E-DA Theme Park,” visitors who purchase a double-ticket combo during the long weekend can enjoy a special price of NT$1540. Tickets purchased at the Zuoying High-Speed Rail Station come with a complimentary round-trip E-DA Shuttle Bus voucher. Additionally, as part of the iPASS activity, from now until June 30th, passengers taking E-DA Bus routes 8501-8506 can enjoy a discounted fare of NT$12 when using an iPASS.

Pingtung County:Remember the poignant love story of the Dragon Boat Festival, “Madame White Snake”? During the holiday, “Eight Treasures Forest Amusement Park” offers a discounted admission price of NT$300 for visitors named “Xu Xian,” “Bai Suzhen,” or those born in the Year of the Snake.

Eastern Taiwan

During the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday, Taitung County Government has launched two events. If you want to celebrate the festival with a traditional cultural vibe, head to Liyu Lake in Shoufeng Township, Hualien County, to watch the “2014 Dragon Boat Racing Carnival” and cheer on the competing boats on the water!

In addition, the biggest annual event in Taitung, the “2014 Taiwan International Hot Air Balloon Festival,” runs from May 30 to August 10 at Luye Gaotai. Visitors can take the “Taiwan Tourist Shuttle – Valley & Luye Line” to get there. In addition to various hot air balloon activities, starting at 6:30 p.m. on the opening day, May 30, there will also be a spectacular light show at the seaside park’s international landmark — don’t miss it!
