Ski in winter, admire flowers in summer – The vibrant sea of blooms at Furano Farm in Hokkaido

Two summers ago, I visited Furano Farm for the first time. It was only early July back then, before the peak season for lavender, which left me with a slight sense of regret. This year, I made a point to return in late July, and fortunately, I caught the tail end of the lavender bloom. Knowing that summer at Furano Farm is a popular tourist destination, I woke up at a little after five in the morning and drove from Biei to the farm. Getting up so early was truly painful, but it was worth it not to have to jostle with the crowds.

I took a photo of the same scene as two years ago, but this time the weather was perfect – clear blue skies with white clouds.

I really love Biei and hope to visit every year from now on.
