Cross the small bridge over the sea of trees and explore the hidden mountain gems along the Fragrant Tea Loop Trail at Maokong.

Xia Xiantong, head of the Roads and Trails Division at the Bureau of Soil and Water Conservation, recommends taking the Maokong Gondola to Maokong Station. After exiting, turn left and walk toward the Tea Exhibition Center, where you’ll find the “Health Trail” opposite the center. Admire the charming squirrel wood carvings made from recycled materials of old wooden walkways, then continue to the fork in the path, turn right, and follow the “Tea Exhibition Center Trail” downhill to see the stunning pothole landforms sculpted by nature. Alternatively, cross the uniquely designed triangular suspension bridge to the other side for photos with adorable panda and cat-shaped benches.

Take advantage of the good weather to hike the Fragrant Tea Loop Trail, enjoy the cool mountain breeze, and take in Wenshan’s picturesque landscapes. You can also visit the nearby Little Skywalk for a mini adventure—“step into the tea fields, breathe in the aroma, walk the mountain trails, and soak in the greenery.”

1. Take the Maokong Gondola to “Maokong Station,” turn left after exiting, and walk along Section 3, Lane 38 of Zhinan Road toward Tian’en Temple. The trailhead opposite the Tea Exhibition Center is about a 15-minute walk.
2. Take bus Xia 10 or Brown 15 to Maokong Station (Tea Exhibition Center & Little Skywalk) along the route.
