Honghuaerji Scots Pine National Forest Park is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a national forest park.

Honghuaerji Forest Park was established in 2000. It is located on the western foothills of the Greater Khingan Mountains, at the southern end of the Ewenki Autonomous Banner in Hulunbuir City, bordering the Inner Mongolia Honghuaerji Scots Pine Nature Reserve, adjacent to the Hulunbuir Grassland to the north, and neighboring Arxan City and the Mongolian People's Republic to the southwest. The park is 120 kilometers from Hailar District, the seat of Hulunbuir City, and is a large-scale national forest park integrating leisure and entertainment, sightseeing and vacation, science education and exploration, as well as camping and hunting.

Covering a total area of 6,726 hectares, Honghuaerji Scots Pine National Forest Park features evergreen sandy Scots pine forests and vast grassland wetland landscapes, along with rolling hills, picturesque lakes and mountains, snow-covered northern scenery, and rich ethnic culture. It boasts Asia’s largest and China’s only contiguous sandy Scots pine forest belt. The Scots pine, now a second-class nationally protected tree species in China, is noted for its windbreak and sand-fixation capabilities, drought resistance, and adaptability to poor soils, drawing attention from professionals and offering high scientific and aesthetic value. Coupled with the park’s beautiful mountainous terrain and diverse flora and fauna, it has become a popular tourist destination in Hulunbuir.

According to the overall plan, Honghuaerji Forest Park is divided into three functional zones: the Cuiyue Lake Forest Resort, centered around Cuiyue Lake with various recreational attractions and supported by cultural landscapes and essential reception facilities, representing the park’s main features and functions; the Grassland Wetland Science Education Zone showcasing the park’s water scenery; and the Forest Hunting Zone highlighting adventure and hunting activities. The park currently has relatively complete tourism reception facilities, with the capacity to accommodate 1,500 diners and 300 overnight guests, and has been promoted to a national-level forest park.

Honghuaerji Forest Park offers functions such as a forest hunting zone, grassland wetland science education and sightseeing zone, and forest sightseeing zone, with seven major attractions scattered among green mountains and clear waters. European-style wooden cottages and ethnic culture villages of various styles provide comprehensive services for visitors. Currently, the park can serve 1,200 diners and accommodate 300 guests simultaneously. It was promoted to a national “AA”-level tourist attraction in 2002. The park is crisscrossed with rivers and dotted with lakes, rich in species and biodiversity, and has developed a variety of leisure, vacation, and scientific research tourism routes, making it one of the hotspots in Hulunbuir tourism. The air here is pristine, and visitors call it a “natural oxygen bar.”
