Zhaojun Island Tourist Area

Zhaojun Island Tourist Area is located about 4 kilometers southwest of the Quanbatu Township Government in the suburbs of Baotou City. It is a newly developed tourist attraction funded and built by the Quanbatu Township Government. The island features natural waterways such as Crescent Bay, Dragon Gate Bay, and Nameless Stream, as well as 8 square kilometers of natural grassland. It serves as a habitat and breeding ground for both wintering and summering birds all year round, as well as species such as red foxes, Mongolian hares, muskrats, and the nationally protected Class II rare bird, the whooper swan. To facilitate tourists' sightseeing and vacationing on the island, the area offers service facilities including motorboats, yachts, ferries, Mongolian yurts, and ethnic cuisine restaurants. After enjoying the beautiful natural scenery, visitors can also engage in recreational activities such as swimming, horseback riding, and fishing.

Zhaojun Island is 4 kilometers long from east to west, and

2.5 kilometers wide from north to south. The island boasts a beautiful natural environment. From the observation tower, visitors can gaze southward at the vast and mighty Yellow River and northward at dense reed marshes. Boating on the island offers an experience reminiscent of the water towns of southern China. The island is rich in flora and fauna, with 25 species of xerophytic and desert plants, as well as around 25 species of birds.

Zhaojun Island is located about 30 kilometers south of downtown Baotou, bordering the Yellow River to the south and facing the Zhaojun Tomb in Ordos across the river. The other three sides are surrounded by tributaries of the Yellow River. It is named after the statue of Wang Zhaojun, who is depicted holding a pipa.
