Baotou Children's Palace is a patriotic education base.

Established in 1960, Baotou Children's Palace is the earliest extracurricular education activity venue in the Inner Mongolia region. It is located at the southwest corner of the intersection of Arding Avenue and Fulin Road in Baotou. Since its inception, the Kunqu District of Baotou has offered programs aimed at nurturing children’s interests and talents. Over time, the range of specialized training has expanded from arts to include cultural, scientific, and sports programs. In particular, the science and technology model aircraft and puppetry programs at the city’s Children's Palace were once among the best in the country. In the 1990s, to address the issue of half-day vacancies at the Children's Palace, a preschool art school was established, extending specialized training to preschool-aged children and further broadening the educational scope of the institution. For many years, the Children's Palace has remained committed to its educational mission of “serving schools, serving the Young Pioneers, and serving all children.” Upholding the principle of public welfare in extracurricular education, and guided by the philosophy of “everything for the children, for everything of the children, and for all the children,” the Palace organizes lively, educational, and entertaining activities. These initiatives provide a platform for children to expand their knowledge, cultivate emotions, refine their sentiments, gain hands-on experience, and receive moral education. These efforts not only enrich children’s holidays but also strengthen their ideological and moral development. Additionally, through interest-based training programs, the Palace promotes quality education, nurtures children’s interests, encourages positive hobbies, and supports the development of individual talents—helping children become well-rounded individuals with specialized skills who can contribute to society. Currently, the Children's Palace offers over 30 types of children’s interest activities, including dance, instrumental music, vocal music, fine arts, calligraphy, English, composition, hosting, chess, martial arts, table tennis, taekwondo, and science and technology projects. In terms of preschool education, institutions such as the Children's Palace Art Kindergarten and Qitian Sunshine International Early Childhood Education Chain enjoy high visibility and influence, extending the reach of the Children's Palace’s extracurricular education to children of nearly all age groups. The Children's Palace keeps pace with the times, continuously expanding the depth and breadth of its extracurricular education programs in response to societal needs. Especially after relocating to the new facility in 2011, the Palace has leveraged its enhanced space resources by adopting a cooperative education model and introducing high-quality social educational resources. This has diversified its training programs and served a wider and more diverse group of children. The newly built Baotou Children's Palace is set to cultivate a large number of outstanding talents for the city’s economic and social development. It will play an even greater role in promoting Baotou’s urban culture and arts, enhancing the city’s level of civilization, and elevating its cultural taste. The Children's Palace has been awarded the title of “National Outstanding Youth Palace” four times by the Communist Youth League Central Committee and the Ministry of Culture in 1992, 1995, 2000, and 2003. In 2005, it received the “First China Youth Social Education ‘Ginkgo Award’ Outstanding Team Award” from the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Central Civilization Office, the Communist Youth League Central Committee, and nine other ministries. In 2012, it was honored as an “Advanced Collective of the ‘Workers’ Pioneer Unit’” by the Baotou Trade Union.
