Shanwei Port is located in eastern Guangdong — on the southwest side of Shanwei urban area. Covering an area of 25 square kilometers with a coastline stretching 16 kilometers, the port’s main channel has a depth of nearly ten meters, allowing thousand-ton ships to enter and exit freely.

Shanwei Port is an open port and a shining pearl by the sea. It lies 81 nautical miles from Hong Kong and boasts a naturally advantageous location with vast fishing grounds and abundant marine resources. The port’s shipping industry is thriving, its coastal scenery is beautiful, and it features shallow beaches ideal for swimming. Moreover, it serves as a rare natural harbor — during typhoons, numerous vessels gather here to take shelter, creating a spectacular scene of “a thousand sails awaiting departure.” Shanwei Port is one of China’s six top-grade special fishing ports and was the site chosen by Dr. Sun Yat-sen almost ninety years ago, in the 1920s, as the foundation for building a major southern port.
