Tianwei Mountain “Underwater Park” is located in the Qian’ao area of Tianwei Mountain in the southern part of Jieshi Town, less than 10 kilometers from downtown Jieshi. The tourist area boasts a combination of “divine charm, sea, sand, and rocks,” with interlacing coastal capes and bays, rugged cliffs, and swaying green trees, offering picturesque scenery. The area at the foot of Tianwei Mountain features particularly prominent marine erosion landforms, giving rise to numerous wonders such as sea erosion pillars, eroded rocks, and wave-carved grooves. After the tide recedes, the beach near Qian’ao Village reveals reefs that dot the sea surface. These reefs resemble humans, animals, flowers, or landscapes, creating a veritable terrestrial park—hence the name “Underwater Park.” Notable formations include the “Stone of the Waiting Wife” and “Man Carrying Woman on His Back,” whose shapes are strikingly lifelike, accompanied by locally popular legendary tales. In front of Qian’ao Village stands the site of an ancient artillery battery built during the Qing Dynasty’s Kangxi era, as well as a plaque inscribed by Lin Zexu during his inspection of Jieshi. There is also the Tianhou Palace (Temple of the Goddess Mazu), the closest Mazu temple to the coastline in China. The tourist area enjoys an excellent location, with land access connecting to the nearby Xuanwu Mountain Tourist Area within the town, and sea routes leading directly to the Jinxia Beach Tourist Area, together forming the golden triangle of tourism in Lufeng.
