Former Site of the Lufeng County General Peasants' Association

The Former Site of the Lufeng County General Peasants' Association is a Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a classic site on the Red Tourism route.

Republican Era, Lufeng. The Former Site of the Lufeng County General Peasants' Association is located in the ancestral hall of the Lin family (commonly known as the Lin Ancestral Hall) in Liuyi Village, Donghai Town, Lufeng City. Built in the early years of the Republic of China, it features a two-courtyard quadrangle layout with a post-and-lintel beam structure and a flush-gable roof, covering a construction area of 328 square meters.

In April 1923, Peng Pai came to Lufeng to prepare for the establishment of the General Peasants' Association. He stayed at the Lin family ancestral hall in Liuyi Village. With the support of peasant movement activists such as Zheng Zhong and Zhang Wei, he quickly formed the Preparatory Committee of the Lufeng County General Peasants' Association. He then went deep into Machijie and Xianqiaotou in the city and rural areas near the town to preach revolutionary ideals to peasants, quickly gaining their understanding and trust. Over 7,000 households voluntarily joined the association, bringing the total membership to 35,000. On June 23, the first Peasants’ Representative Assembly of Lufeng County was held, establishing the Lufeng County General Peasants' Association. Peng Pai was elected as chairman, Zheng Zhong (also known as Zheng Jingtang) as vice-chairman, and the association’s headquarters was set up in the Lin family ancestral hall. Peng Pai also personally designed the association flag and formulated its manifesto, clearly proposing a strategy of “pursuing both economic and political struggle” and preparing to “seize political power.”

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it has been renovated multiple times and is now well preserved.

In June 1989, it was designated as a cultural relics protection unit by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government.
