National Museum

Introduction: The National Museum of Tanzania was established in 1937 in the capital city of Dar es Salaam. It displays ethnological, archaeological, and historical materials, among which the most famous is the Village Museum, showcasing architectural styles of various Tanzanian ethnic groups.

As early as the 15th century, Chinese navigator Zheng He voyaged to the East African coast. Today, a painting of Zheng He’s great fleet from that time hangs in the National Museum of Tanzania, and the museum also exhibits many Chinese ceramics. These ceramics were brought by Zheng He during his voyages and, despite having endured 500 to 600 years of time, still reveal the deep connection between this land and China.
