Attraction Introduction Mikumi is located north of Selous and just 283 kilometers from Dar es Salaam. This park was established to protect the environment and wildlife, and it also serves as an important ecological and environmental education base. The Mikumi alluvial plains, which run parallel to the mountains, are the park’s main feature. Common animals here include lions, antelopes, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, hippos, elephants, and more. Mikumi elephants primarily graze on grass and do not harm trees. Lions can be seen leisurely strolling across the Mikumi plains or resting among the branches. Packs of wild dogs are frequently spotted. The vegetation in Mikumi includes woodlands, swamps, grasslands, and more. In addition to birds such as storks and kingfishers, you may also see lizards and large pythons inhabiting the water ponds.
