Saadani National Park is Tanzania's 13th national park, located along the Indian Ocean in the Pwani and Morogoro regions, 100 km from Dar es Salaam, covering an area of 1,100 square kilometers. Established in 2005, the park is primarily characterized by forests and tropical savanna woodlands, with wildlife including giraffes, wildebeest, antelopes, elephants, lions, leopards, yellow baboons, and blue monkeys.

Saadani National Park is a rare wildlife reserve connected to the Indian Ocean. Palm trees sway in the cool sea breeze, while white sands and blue waters shimmer dazzlingly under the tropical sun. Located at the meeting point of beach and bush, Saadani is East Africa’s only wildlife sanctuary with coastal access — a source of pride for the Indian Ocean shoreline. It embodies all the features of Tanzania’s tropical coastline, with its islands a favorite spot for sun-loving Europeans. Of course, such leisurely sunbathing may well be interrupted by an elephant strolling by or a lion quenching its thirst near a waterhole.
