Introduction The De Wildt Cheetah Breeding Station is located along the R566 highway between Pretoria and Brits. In the past, it was believed that cheetahs in captivity could not reproduce, but De Wildt proved this notion wrong. Research conducted at De Wildt also showed that the extremely rare king cheetah — characterized by stripe-like markings rather than the usual spots of a typical cheetah — is not a distinct species, but rather the result of both parents carrying a recessive gene. Additionally, the sanctuary is home to wild dogs, wild cats, and brown hyenas.  Admission / Opening HoursOpening Hours: Saturdays and Sundays. On Saturdays from 8:30 am – 2:00 pm and Sundays from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm, there are two-hour open vehicle game drives around the property, but advance booking is required.
