Rietvlei Dam

Rietvlei Dam is a concrete arch dam on the Pienaars River, located north of Pretoria, the administrative capital of South Africa. It was constructed in 1955 and officially opened to the public in 1959.

Rietvlei Dam is 28.3 meters high and 143 meters long. Originally built for irrigation purposes, it has now become a popular tourist destination and leisure hub. It is an ideal spot for fishing, boating, water sports, and swimming. Moreover, due to the abundant water resources in the dam’s basin and its structure, it forms a dramatic man-made waterfall with a significant drop.
