Pretoria, also known as Tshwane or Tswhane, is a city located in the northern part of South Africa's Gauteng Province and serves as the country’s administrative capital. The South African presidential residence is situated in this city, and most foreign embassies are concentrated along Embassy Street in Pretoria, making it the de facto political decision-making center of South Africa.

Pretoria is planted with a variety of flowers, trees, and plants, and features clean streets and beautiful scenery, hence earning the nickname “City of Gardens.” It is also called the “Jacaranda City” due to the jacaranda trees lining its streets. The city has a neat layout with grid-like streets flanked by rows of Jacaranda trees. When these trees burst into bloom between October and November each year, a grand carnival is held. The city is home to numerous museums, memorials, monuments, and statues, as well as an observatory, a national zoo, and nature reserves. Attractions for visitors include the National Zoological Gardens of South Africa, the Paul Kruger House, Church Square, the Union Buildings, the Voortrekker Monument, the Transvaal Museum, Africa Window, the Mariamman Temple, and the Ditsong National Museum of Cultural History (formerly the Pretoria Museum), among others.
