The Church of Paraportiani is located on the island of Mykonos and is built in the Byzantine style. It is an all-white church, so pure in its whiteness that one hesitates to add even a hint of color to it. Among the more than 360 churches on Mykonos, it is the most renowned. Due to its pristine white appearance, it is affectionately called the “Cotton Candy Church.”

The Church of Paraportiani is composed of five separate chapels clustered together. The tallest one was built in 1425, while the others were constructed between the 16th and 17th centuries. The cluster of white structures resembles a salt mountain, featuring a highly unique design. When facing the Church of Paraportiani, one can feel as though their soul has been purified. Sadly, it has fulfilled its historical role and is now an abandoned church, quietly standing there for future generations to visit and admire.
