Blue Planet Aquarium is a marine and freshwater aquarium located near the Oak Retail and Leisure Park in Cheshire, England. The aquarium opened in July 1998 with the support of Queen Elizabeth II and is the largest aquarium in the UK, as well as the largest in North West England.

The building that houses the aquarium cost up to £12 million and is designed to resemble the churning waves of a stormy sea. The aquarium was established with the mission to “inspire, inform and engage people about the marine environment through interactive, entertaining and sustainable experiences.” Inside, there are large tanks, pools, and an underwater tunnel where visitors can walk through and observe a wide variety of marine life with different habitats. The largest tank holds up to 4 million litres of water. The themed exhibition areas showcase tropical rivers, lakes and ponds, estuaries, seas, and oceans. It is home to many marine and freshwater fish, including more species of sharks than anywhere else in the UK. In addition, it also hosts a range of mammals, reptiles, and amphibians.
